Opening Hours/General Questions
We are open Tuesday - Saturday from 10:15 to 15:00. We stop serving hot food at 14:30 but still offer cakes and scones until 15:00. We are closed Sundays - Mondays, including any Monday bank holidays.
If you’d like to come in and order off the menu a reservation is not required. However, if you would like to book for Afternoon Tea, we require 24 hours notice with a 50% deposit paid beforehand.
All of our menu is available to takeaway including the cakes - just ask at the counter! We currently don’t have the option for delivery or online orders.
For bookings of 10 or more people, we may require a deposit per person and a preorder.
We are located on Silver Street above Lu Lu’s Gift Company. To get into the tearoom you have to first enter Lu Lu’s Gift Co. and go up the stairs inside. Our address is available on our Contact Us page. Due to limited space we are unable to fit a lift, however, many of our guests with limited mobility can make their way upstairs using the platforms we have on the stairs to take breaks.
There are car parks on the street behind our coffee shop (Bishop Street and Sun Inn/High Street), if you view our store online you will be able to find the two nearest car parks on the map. Our tearoom is on a pedestrianised street so there is no street parking directly outside.
Yes! We are dog friendly and have water bowls and treats on hand if you may need them.
We accept cash, card, and gift vouchers for the tearoom.
We offer a kids meal which you can see the details and price on our Menu page. We say that this is suitable for children up to 10 years old.
When we approach Spring and Summer and the weather is nicer we like to put up our seating outside for customers to enjoy the sunshine! Hopefully once the town’s waterfront development project is finished our tearoom will be a lovely spot to visit after a stroll along the river!
We try to respond to messages first thing in the mornings during our opening hours. If a message is sent outside of our open hours we will respond to it the next business day. Enquiries for afternoon tea for a Tuesday must be booked with deposits paid before the end of our working day on Saturday or it is unlikely we will be able to book you in.
Yes we do! If you spend £20+ downstairs in Lu Lu’s Gift Company you get a free drink (T&Cs apply) upstairs in our tearoom. We also have reward stamp cards which entitles you to a free drink once you have filled your stamp card. Lu Lu’s Club members also receive regular rewards and offers through their email.

We handle all bookings personally so please send us a message on our Contact Us page to make a reservation. We require a 50% deposit for afternoon tea bookings which can be paid via an invoice to your email or you can ring up and pay over the phone. We require 24 hours/ 1 business day notice for afternoon tea bookings, however, depending on how many bookings we have for the date of enquiry we may not be able to fit you in.
We can take afternoon tea bookings on any of our open days (Tuesday - Saturday) and we recommend booking anytime between 11:00am and 1:30pm.

Please note that our kitchen is not allergen free and whilst we may omit an allergen, we can’t guarantee no cross contamination.
Yes we do! Please see our Afternoon Tea page for more information on the kids afternoon tea. We recommend this for anyone over the age of 6 as younger children may struggle to eat the majority of the offering. We also offer kids meals which are available to view on our Menu page.
Afternoon tea is £19.00 per person with a 50% booking deposit being £9.50. Please see our Afternoon Tea page for all details on afternoon tea including photos and offerings.
That’s more than okay! As long as you notify us before the date of the booking or in the morning of (9am or earlier) via message or voicemail, we can reschedule your booking. We allow one month from the date of the original booking to reschedule.
Everyone has foods they’re not keen on but as we make our afternoon teas in batches to ensure consistency, if it’s a busy day we may not have the time to customise an afternoon tea. If you would like to swap a sandwich filling we suggest discussing within your group if someone would like to swap with you. Alternatively, if you like the look of any of our alternative Afternoon Tea options you can choose that offering instead of a standard afternoon tea. Please contact us if you have any questions about this.
You can find our gift voucher on the Shop page. We offer gift vouchers for afternoon tea or we also offer monetary values also. Gift vouchers can also be purchased in-store.
Both physical and digital gift vouchers come with a 16 digit code which we will need to take at the point of booking to redeem it. Physical gift vouchers also have QR codes on which we can scan in store to redeem.
If your gift voucher is for a monetary value and you would like to use it in-store where your order value is less than the voucher amount, the remaining amount will stay on your gift voucher.
Yes we offer both digital and physical gift vouchers. If you are unable to come in store for a physical gift voucher and you would like to have one shipped to you or directly to the recipient, we can do that! When on the page to purchase a gift voucher read the full description for information on purchasing a physical gift voucher. By adding gift wrap, that covers the shipping costs and lets us know that you would like a physical version. If you are shipping the gift voucher directly to the recipient please leave their address in the notes section when you are checking out.
